Update from Seattle Police 8:30 a.m.

Detectives are investigating after officers shot a man following a foot pursuit through the Northgate neighborhood this morning.

Witnesses called 911 at 4:45 am Tuesday to report a car prowl in progress, later stating the male suspect had run from the scene. Officers responding to the call spotted the suspect in the area and went to contact him. The suspect ran from officers and at one point brandished a knife. An officer deployed a taser, but this failed to subdue the suspect. One of the officers then fired multiple rounds striking the suspect. Officers immediately called for Seattle Fire Department medics who took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

  1. From what’s written in the story, it sounds like the police officers did what they could to control the suspect without using their firearms. In the end they had to subdue the suspect for their safety and the safety of the public. Good job officers.

  2. I’m no fan of sociopathic points of view, whether expressed by petty criminals prowling cars, or by sadistic comments made on social media.

  3. I’m glad the police apprehended a car prowler. It makes me feel a lot safer that they’re cracking down on this kind of crime. The prowler was very dumb to pull a weapon, and I can’t muster any sympathy for him.

  4. Pretty scary – I heard a bunch of sirens in the very early morning, which must have been this. I wonder if it was the Aljoya residents who called the police? It was right over by their building.
