Snow now heavy in Maple Leaf, streets coated

Dark: Great sunset, temperatures dropping toward freezing. Atop the Official Maple Leaf Life Snow Measuring Car, 2 3/4 inches. Forecast for Wednesday, somewhere between 2 and 8 inches more. Seattle schools take the day (Wednesday) off.

3:45 p.m.: Arterials are clear and wet. Side streets mostly passable.

2:20 p.m.: Sunshine!

1:20 p.m.: Steady snow.

12:30 p.m.: Brighter outside, with light snow.

11 a.m: Heavy snow coating side streets. 15th Avenue Northeast and Roosevelt Way Northeast fine; Fifth Avenue less so.

  1. Didn’t get a photo of this–but about noon, not one, but 2 buses (73X) were jack knifed on 15th at the 104th stop. Fortunately there was room I could get around them to turn down to my house on 104th.

    And I can happily recommend “Autosock” as a great alternative to cable chains!!

  2. Schools just called, 2 hr early release. That coupled with the 2 hr late start was hardly worth the effort to go in. Oh, what can you do.

  3. Public schools still open at 11:30. Hanging by the phone in case of early release. Shoreline Community College called it off at 10:30am so I have one home.
