Next week, North Seattle Community College is celebrating the grand opening of its 46,000-square-foot Opportunity Center for Employment and Education.
Although it first opened in May, the ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, which will be followed by a brief program, reception and building tours.
The new enployment center, which provies aid to more than 400 North Seattle residents a day and features classrooms, public computers as well as copiers, fax machine and phones available to those searching for work, also offers:
- Basic skills education
- Career training
- Tuition assistance
- Tutoring
- Unemployment insurance
- Employment services
- Food stamps
- Child support
- Transportation services
- Public assistance
- Health care
- Other state aid
Partners providing services at the new multiagency hub include The North Seattle Community College Workforce Education, Employment Security, Department of Social and Health Services, WorkSource Seattle-King County, Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County, Shoreline Community College, TRAC Associates, Pacific Associates, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, YWCA of Seattle-King-Snohomish Counties and Seattle Goodwill.
The grand opening is at the college, 9600 College Way N., at the OCE&E main entrance on 95th Street.
