Want to learn more about the “Naturalizing Northgate” project we wrote about last week, which is on track for $500,000 in funding from Seattle’s 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy?

Ruth Williams, a vice president of the Thornton Creek Alliance, spoke extensively with the seattlepi.com about the proposal to complete work on the creek’s channel at Thornton Creek Park No. 6, which spans from Northeast 105th Street and Fifth Avenue Northeast in the southwest to about Northeast 108th Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast:

She called the project “one more step, consistent with the city’s goals, in restoring the natural functions of the creek.” …

“Northgate really needs a natural area,” said Williams, who lives nearby. “It is so built up and so developed that it needs a counter-balance.”
