New sidewalk and curb ramps are about to go in on the east side of Lake City Way and NE 92nd Street.  Work starts tomorrow (7/27) and will take two or three weeks.  Crews will work from 8:30am to 3pm on weekdays.  During work hours, southbound traffic on Lake City Way will not be allowed to turn left onto NE 92nd except for Metro buses. The sidewalk will be closed until the project is finished.

  1. Chris, all I’m saying is if you discuss N/S LCW with anyone in transportation they’ll get confused. To be consistent and, we stick to their designations so people writing comments have a better chance of their comments being understood.

The fact the highway number is even (SR 522) denotes an east-west road. Compass direction is irrelevant for this sort of discussion.

  2. It’s called South and North because of the primary directions. At 92nd it is still N&S by the old Upenieks tire place. (Now a Les Schwab) If you want to get picky, it’s SW by NE at 85th. Still basically North and South.

I grew up here, I have floated and forded the creek from Northgate to the lake. Trust me.

  3. LCW runs E/W, believe it or not. So I assume you mean West (Seattle) bound traffic won’t be able to turn left on 92nd?

If I had a nickel for everytime I’ve made the same mistake…
