Treat Mom to Parfait and more this weekend

Whether for Mother’s Day or just your own guilty indulgence, Parfait Organic Artisan Ice Cream will be making a stop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Blue Saucer, 9127 Roosevelt Way N.E.

If you missed your chance to try the eco-friendly ice cream when it was at the Washington Dental Building on Monday, you’ll get plenty of chances beyond this Sunday. Parfait owner Adria Shimada says the mobile vendor will be returning to Blue Saucer every Sunday this month.

Need more ideas for Mom this weekend? Our partner The Seattle Times has a host of ideas, but here are a few more Northeast Seattle-centric ideas:

  • If you have yet to find the perfect present for Mom, MyWallingford writes that Seattle Tilth is holding its Second Chance Plant Sale tonight from 4-7 featuring unsold items from last weekend’s Edible Plant Sale. The veggies and herbs will be available for $2 a plant at the south side of Good Shepherd Center, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N.
  • Theatergoing Moms can choose between performances of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” at Nathan Hale High School, 10750 30th Ave. N.E, at 7:30 tonight and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and “110 in the Shade” at Seattle Musical Theatre, 7400 Sand Point Way N.E., at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
  • For music lovers, singer, pianist and composer Lydia McCauley will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Haller Lake Community Club, 12579 Densmore Ave. N.
  • For moms who love dogs, especially pugs, Pugmania is a must-see, featuring a parade of rescue pugs, a pug costume contest, a pug talent contest and much, much more. The 15th annual gala for Seattle Pug Rescue is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Magnuson Park.
  • Also Saturday, you’ll either want to take part in or avoid the Run for Your Rights at Green Lake. The NARAL Pro-Choice 5K run/walk starts at 11 a.m. at the Bathhouse Theater, 7312 W. Green Lake Drive N.; registration begins at 10:15 a.m.
  • A little farther from North Seattle but likely worth the effort, you can both entertain and buy a present for Mom at the Pike Place Market Flower Festival, featuring more than 30 flower farmers on the Pike Place cobblestones.
  • And since the ultimate present for Mom is a little R&R, see if you can drag her out to the Northgate Mall Kids’ Camp Expo outside The Gap on Saturday, where you can learn about kids’ and family camps from all over Washington.

What plans do you have with – or without – Mom this weekend?
