Rain, thunder, hail coming?

Monday a.m.: Total rain = .08 inches. On top of .22 inches Friday night into Saturday.

6 p.m. Sun.

5 p.m. (Post The Score.) Steady rain.

3:33 p.m. Light rain has arrived.

Here’s the short-term forecast issued two minutes earlier for East Puget Sound lowlands – Seattle and vicinity:

SHOWERS WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS FROM KITSAP COUNTY SOUTH INTO THURSTON AND LEWIS COUNTIES ARE MOVING EAST OVER THE PUGET SOUND WATERS AND INTO WESTERN KING AND PIERCE COUNTIES. SMALL HAIL AND BRIEF HEAVY RAINS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS.

Local forecast calls for 90 percent chance of rain this afternoon.

March goes out like a lion – plus power outages

Update 7:39 p.m. Wednesday: Hail, for the second evening in a row!

Update Wednesday a.m. National Weather Service in Seattle says 60 percent chance of showers today and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 a.m.

This evening’s hail – and lightning strikes – have killed power to several dozen in Maple Leaf.

Short-term forecast this afternoon: hail, wind, lightning

A short-term forecast was issued within the hour (3:16 p.m.) by the National Weather Service in Seattle:

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PUGET SOUND REGION WILL MOVE SLOWLY TO THE EAST SOUTHEAST AT 10 MPH OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. SOME OF THESE STORMS MAY CONTAIN SMALL HAIL…BRIEF HEAVY RAINS…GUSTY WINDS…AND LIGHTNING.

Clouds, rain – maybe hail and lightning – move in

3:40 p.m. Heavy rain.

3:45 p.m. Sun.

4 p.m. Rainbow!

More wet weather has arrived – bad news for Oso and those involvedĀ  in the slide there.

For us: “The rain comes our way as a cold front rolls in, dropping our temperatures about 10 degrees from yesterday. Showers will be heavy at times this afternoon as highs reach the mid to upper 50s,” KOMO reports.

As the week progresses, hail and thunderstorms are possible. Friday brings a lot more rain.

Heavy hail hits Maple Leaf

At 2:50 p.m. a hailstorm swept through Maple Leaf.

At 2:53 it stopped.

KIRO reports: “Hail now being reported over north King County.. Even north Seattle. Conv zone is roaring pretty good right now.”

Forecast says thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening.

Short-term forecast warns of lightning, thunderstorms, wind

Update 5:31 p.m.: Hail, thunder at Maple Leaf Life.

At 11:20 this morning the National Weather Service issued a short-term forecast saying that today’s cold front is bringing rain and lightning strikes just to the north of us, and moving southwest. Hail and gusty winds to 45 mph are possible.

Thunder and hail in Maple Leaf

Eric sent us this photo, which he said was taken at Northeast 79th Street and Eighth Avenue Northeast.

The hail has died away now (3:15 p.m.) but it’s rained a third of an inch since this morning. That’s on top of 0.60 inches on Tuesday and 2 inches Sunday through Monday.

Good news! The forecast calls for a sunny day Thursday. But only Thursday.
