Free tomato starts at Maple Leaf's Dog Oasis

A couple of dozen free tomato starts are being given away this afternoon at the Dog Oasis (corner of 12th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 89th Street).

Actually, a dozen of them are already gone. They were grown by Caroline Ullmann, owner of the Dog Oasis and, not co-incidentally, the wife of Maple Leaf Life’s co-editor.

For you gardeners, the varieties are Yellow Pear, Rutgers, Gardener’s Delight, Yellow Perfection, Stupice, Taxi, Manitoba, Siletz, Oregon Spring and Legend. Whew!
