Kam writes: “I noticed there’s a Maple Leaf school- Sacajawea – raising money for books.

Here’s the link. There, teacher Mrs. Meir, pre-K through 2nd grade at Sacajawea Elementary School, explains why she’s asking for donations up to $599:

Our classroom has a daily book circle in which the teacher reads to the students. The students in our classroom also have free time with books in our book area during choice time. Handling books help them to develop an understanding that pictures tell a story as do the words.

Please support this very worthy project to help students from high poverty situations with special needs and some of whom are English Language Learners to benefit from wider variety of classroom literature.

Over at Olympic View Elementary School, 504 N.E. 95th St., Melanie writes:

ASK: The Olympic View PTA has generously funded the items needed to repair the lower playground rope/climbing net. Now what we need is “someone who is either by (1) a NPSI-Certified Playground Inspector (CPI), or (2) as a ‘community build’ under the direct supervision of an insured NPSI-CPI person.”

Are you that person or do you know someone who is? It would save the PTA an additional sum of money. Please contact Diana.nickel@gmail.com if you can help!
