Craft beer and fine pizza at Thornton Place’s Watershed Pub

Beer.
That’s what our news partner The Seattle Times first noticed at Thornton Place’s Watershed Pub & Kitchen.

“Sufficient come-on in a heat wave perhaps, but this casual, cavernous, cedar-paneled pub at Thornton Place has other things going for it.

“Pizza, for one thing. Pie folds for another. Both rely on the same excellent dough…,” Providence Cicero writes in a review this weekend.

The pub opened in late April on the south side of the Thornton Place complex at 10104 Third Ave. N.E.

In a press release, co-owner Ben Curran said:

Unique in a chain-restaurant dominated shopping centrum, Watershed brings craft beer and liquor and artisan pizza to a neighborhood in need of community-minded gathering spaces. The pub does just that with a warm cedar-clad interior, family-friendly sections, outdoor patio seating, and perhaps most significantly, close proximity to all of Northgate’s shopping and entertainment venues.

Movie-goers, mall shoppers, and commuters alike will find the location and hours of Watershed ideal for dining and socializing; the pub is also student and tele-commuter friendly, with high-speed internet access and thoughtfully-placed outlets, as well as flexible seating for business lunches.

The pub is “Family owned, community founded, globally minded.”

  1. My family and I just got thrown out of the Watershed because my disabled son brought in food from another establishment. We had ordered a full round of drinks and food for three including salads when the self-righteous waiter told us we couldn’t have food from outside the business and that we would have to leave. I pointed out that every other Maple Leaf restaurant had been OK with this, but he insisted. I asked to see the manager, but that person took so long to come out that I just left with my son who was mortified. The result of my family agreed to clean up the emotional mess.

The reason we bring my son to these establishments is to train him on going out. He does not do anything to disrupt the environment. I’m surprised that it was so important for the Watershed to enforce this rule at the expense of what would have been regular $75 tab customers who can now never go back.

  2. We ate their Tuesday, the place was full, good sign! We ate at the bar, had good service, good beer and drinks, good pizza (although the sauce was pretty mild, I like mine with at least some oregano and pepper or spice). Definitely will go back!

  3. Had dinner there last night. I like the spot. The outdoor seating area is nice. The inside layout and decor is well done. The beer selection is solid. They were out of a couple beers, but not a big deal. The food was good. I wouldn’t call it amazing, but its well above normal pub food. I had one of their folded pie’s, which is essentially a baked pizza that is topped with greens and then folded in half. It was tasty and their red wine salad dressing really good. The service was good.

Overall, I think its a great addition to the area and a place I will add to my list of frequent local spots. It can’t replace the Ale House though on the sole fact that I can walk to Ale House, which means I can drink more beer 🙂

  4. Tried it once – the pizza and beer are good. They do need to flesh out the menu a bit though on apps and sides.

  5. And they have Omission Ales in bottles. The only gluten free beer that adheres to Reinheitsgebote: water, barley malt and hops. It is good stuff. See you there.

  6. We love Watershed. It’s low-key, staff are friendly (if busy), and there are many fun touches in the decor including clever use of beer glasses. Hope folks will consider supporting another local Maple Leaf business.
