Ralph writes: “Just after 10:30 this morning the Seattle Fire Department responded with 14 units to a single family residence fire in the 7500 block of Roosevelt Way NE.
“Luckily the large response was not necessary as the fire was in a clothes dryer and was quickly extinguished. Better to see more units than not enough. Lots of hose to be rolled up.”
Thanks for the report and photos, Ralph!
According to fire dispatch, 14 units responded to what came in as “fire in a single-family residence.”
I’ve never had a fire, but three years ago I some heart problems, and it is just wonderful that we live in a city where you can push three numbers on the phone, and, minutes later, be being helped by a lot of really competent and caring professionals.
Regarding the response, this is typical of most professional fire departments and something that has stood the test of time. The bottom line is you don’t want to under respond and suffer from a lack of resources; this is how things get out of hand and people get hurt…or worse. Funny how often somebody will scoff about something they know absolutely nothing about.
I was impressed with the response. If this had ended up being a serious structure fire there would have been enough hands on deck to make a difference.
one of my baristas lives in that house and is still missing her kitty. keep a look out for a scared little boy kitty and give us a call at the bakery if you hear any meows!

I was wondering what happened this morning… Some will scoff at the scope of response – as they did with the recent accident on Roosevelt and 91st – but it sets my mind at ease to see our emergency service professionals take their jobs seriously and respond in force.
